$HAME installation by The Nave
Presented at Ugly Duck’s creative season:
In transition: How technology is changing human behaviour
11-15 of April; Ugly Duck, 48-55 Tanner Street, London

$hame is an multidisciplinary art installation that showcases films made by the collective over the last few years and highlights our relationship with the modern world. We aim to challenge people’s consumerist habits and ask them to explore their relationship with the natural world. Shame is an installation about beauty from the outside – ugly from the inside or the dark side of consumerist capitalism.

‘From my recent years of organizational experience, $hame turned out to be definitely one of the most ambitious projects.’ – Sierra aka Oneslutriot

How did it start?

Myself and my fellow core members of The Nave collective Caine and Ornagh met up regarding an open call from The Ugly Duck. The gallery was reaching out to artists working on themes related to technology. The second I saw this – I new it was meant for us. We wrote a proposal 10 times more ambitious from it’s outcome, and abstract enough that Ugly Duck would get confused and by the end offer us an installation space in their organised show along side and invite to do solo show in the future. This, to us, small starting collective was a sign of huge potential success. As an underground artist myself, it took me nearly 10 years to get an invite from a proper organisational body to do a
show in their space. Which is organised not in DIY, not by ourselves, not by Arts Council funds, but curated by a serious gallery with sustainable ethos.
