After several years of working directly in the communities of East London, RtR ran it’s first workshop since 2019 on Theatre of the Oppressed and Joker Development at Limehouse Town Hall this weekend (4/5th March).

A dozen members of RtR and a 2-month old baby attended for 2 days reconnecting, playing and creating in a venue that has a working class history extending from the sufragettes, anti-capitalist activism, squatting and the local Bangladeshi community.

We finished each day with an hour long intentional nap, designed and curated for the radical power of collective resting, based on Tricia Hersey’s Ministry of Naps from her book Rest Is Resistance.

Reboot the Roots will be running a monthly weekend workshop from May to October looking at developing a new generation of jokers and facilitators who will discover the skills of Theatre of the Oppressed and regenerate them within their own communities.
